Kunstpresentatie: TABULA RASA '08
In wellicht het mooiste atelier van Hoorn organiseert beeldend kunstenaar René van Leeuwen (Hoorn, 1960) een studiopresentatie van zijn werk. Met TABULA RASA '08 biedt Van Leeuwen een ieder die geînteresseerd is in zijn werk de mogelijkheid om op een ontspannen en informele wijze eens rond te kijken in het imposante oeuvre van deze kunstenaar. Er is veel aandacht voor vrij werk maar ook kunstprojecten als de olieverfschilderijen van Private Dog en het werk van de nu al bijna legendarische KZDG (kwasten zonder die gasten) zullen te zien en te koop zijn. Vanaf 20 euro bent u al eigenaar van een origineel KZDG kunstwerk: een leuk kado, voor uzelf bijvoorbeeld! Ruim 100 vierkante meter kunst en meer dan 250 kunstwerken aanwezig tijdens deze TABULA RASA '08. Een ieder die eens wil komen kijken is van harte welkom. Gezien de erotische inhoud van de kunstwerken van Private Dog is deze presentatie niet echt geschikt voor al te jeugdige bezoekers. Bezoek buiten de openingstijden alleen op afspraak.

About Private Dog and 'Babes in Toyland!'
Intriguing, seductive and highly enjoyable collage-based oil on canvas paintings
by contemporary artist Private Dog. All artworks are part of the 'Babes in Toyland!' show.
An almost impossibly collection of artworks that swarms with questions of consumerism,
value, innocence, corruption and desire. Like for instance Jeff Coons , Private Dog found a way

Photoshoot KINGFISHER STUDIO'S: The Real Dolls
Kunst als nieuwe creatieve en innovatieve kracht?
Uit recente gegevens blijkt dat het Nederlandse bedrijfsleven steeds vaker een (tijdelijke) samenwerking zoekt met kunstenaars. Veel bedrijven zijn op zoek naar nieuwe mogelijkheden om kunst en creativiteit in hun bedrijfsproces te integreren. Bedrijven willen graag meer dan een evenement sponsoren of een schilderij bestellen voor in de directiekamer. Ze willen graag betrokken zijn bij het doen en laten van de kunstenaars. Voorwaarde om deel te kunnen nemen is dat er van beide kanten oprechte interesse is in elkaar. De sleutel tot een goede samenwerking is dat alle partijen nieuwsgierig zijn naar elkaars leven en geïnteresseerd zijn in de processen die daarin een rol spelen. Kunstenaars denken anders, aan de manier waarop zij hun creativiteit inzetten kan het bedrijfsleven veel hebben. Er worden bijvoorbeeld enorme bedragen uitgegeven aan marketing, artwork en reclamebureau's, maar dat de mensen die daarover beslissen nauwelijks geschoold zijn in het kijken naar beelden. Een samenwerking met een kunstenaar kan dan een echte eye-opener zijn. KINGFISHER STUDIO'S heeft samenwerkingsverbanden met het bedrijfsleven nooit geschuwd. Sterker nog, KINGFISHER STUDIO'S popelt van nieuwsgierigheid en ziet in elke samenwerking de uitdaging. Elke samenwerking begint bij het leggen van de contacten. Art contribute to a free world?
Dear,
All art contributes to a free world. All artists contribute to a free world.
That's why art is an important issue. Freedom? Is it just a lie?
A longing for, or merely just a state of mind? In fact, can we be free at all?
And, if something like freedom exists, can we handle freedom? Can you?
Amongst some other themes and big issues, the 'concept' freedom runs
through all my work like water. Visit for instance the project:
The XXXXX Factory (http://www.thexxxxxfactory.com). A good example
of how modern art tickles the audience to think over important human
issues like freedom, power, money, information and education.
I believe that freedom is a state of mind. Unless you truly can/will understand
what freedom means all the way, it comes to you. For you to use, teach, learn
and communicate. That maybe sounds easy, but in fact is a hard pill to swallow.
In the un-free world society of today only a few topics seem to be important:
money, sex, power and control. Until we all make this topics less important,
freedom will be nothing more than just a goal for some and a lie for many...

In the back of my head I always knew I'd be a musician first and an artist later.
The moment I made any kind of money from my music, I knew the windfalls
were not far behind. Let's face it, it took Elvis a few months to sell a million records,
while Van Gogh sold just one painting during his whole life. My choise was easy.
Hardly anyone makes money from their art until they're dead.
From my point of view, it's definitely an advantage to enjoy your wealth

1 Hoorn Art project
KINGFISHER STUDIO'S / René van Leeuwen was asked to participate in the so called '1HoornArt' project. An 2007 art project that will celebrate the fact that the city of Hoorn (the Netherlands) received her so called 'city-rights' 650 years ago. The unicorn is Hoorn's weapon/symbol. 34 Participating artists will turn the blank 160 cm. high 'ready made' unicorn into cheerful objects of modern art. Although the organization of the project raised a lot of questions, KINGFISHER STUDIO'S decided to participate nevertheless. Presentation of all artworks in a display all over town: May until October 2007. New issues about this project will be reported here...

René van Leeuwen: "I sense more and more anger and anxiety around me.
Frustrations and intolerance. Like the rules, laws and expectations around us
individuals tighten-up,
and leave us almost no space to move. Leaves us no room to care
about each other anymore. So we busy ourselves defending our jobs,
our drugs, our possessions and our money filled bank accounts.
And we're left lost and wandering, telling lies and getting lied to in return.
Incapable of trusting each other or seeing it all in a different
or other perspective. All myths are busted and even God turned out
to be nothing more than a concept. So here we are; lonely, worried
and scared about what the future will bring us..."

Hi!!!
How are you? My name is Natalia. I am 26 years old. I live in
Russia, city Yelabuga. I am cheerful woman, and like to do many things
as sport, camping, go to the cinema, theatre etc. In a word I like to do
all what like all people. I work in marketing structure on sale of cosmetics.
My dream this travel abroad. I know the english language well enough.
I began to study english language approximately one year ago.
I wish tell to you history which have pushed me write to
you. 8 months ago I have got acquainted with the man from other country by
name Dominique. During this time we had good relations. We have understood
that our relations become serious and we have decided to meet in his country.
I wrote the application for reception the visa.
I waited reception of the visa approximately half of year. All time I kept in
touch with Dominique through the internet and often called to each other. I
and Dominique waited reception of the visa to our meeting. I have received
the invitation from the ambassador for reception of the visa.
My director has given me long-term holiday from work and I have gone to
Moscow to receive the visa. I informed good news to Dominique, but he has
answered, that does not want our meeting.
He played with me. He has informed that has the wife with
two children and at all has no plans to meet me. I was not ready to such
turn of events. I could not think what even after 8 months of
acquaintance he can so unscrupulously act with me. Now I am in Moscow
trip to Moscow and reception of visa. I do not want that all was gone
for nothing and will be glad if my visa will be useful to our meeting.
I could arrive already through 4-5 days, but a problem in that that
now I have no man which would like my arrival. Probable it will silly
sound but if you will be interested in a meeting with the good woman I
shall like to meet you sometime soon! As Dominique was dishonest with me I
have decided to find the man which is interested to meet the woman from
Russia. I do not know your ideas about my letter, but it would be fine
if we could meet and have some weeks or months together. On my trip I want to
receive rest from my work and a life in Russia. Also the basic purpose
for the future it is search good men for serious attitudes which go to a
marriage. I have no children, but I want to have children in the future.
I am the mature woman and ready to creation of family with good man. I
do not know what you really search in the future but if we could meet I
shall be happy to discuss with you more about our meeting. What are you
going to do this time? It would be fine if we could meet, do
friendship or more than simply friendship. I shall be happy if you also
have a free time and we could meet soon. I do not know your interests,
but anyhow write to me back and I shall tell to you more about myself.

be interesting to us together.
